Hydrocarbons divided into two types

1. Open chain 

      A. Saturated.         B. Unsaturated

                                         i. Alkene   ii. Alkyne

2. Close chain 

    A. Aromatic.                           

all are alkanes

General formula of alkane is CnH2n+2

General formula of alkene is CnH2n

General formula of alkyne is CnH2n-2
